In order to adhere to the Health & Safety of the ASA and Burnt Mill School, we do have to follow a few rules which applies to all pupils and adults at The Swimming Academy - you will need to take these on board as follows:-

  • Changing rooms - Children of 7 and under can be changed for swimming in the gender of the carer.  Children of 8 and above / adults are to change in the room of their gender

  • No photography without prior consent of the school

  • Pupils to be medically fit for lessons

  • Pupils are not to swim with open wounds or sores

  • Pupils to use the toilet before lessons

  • Girls to wear one piece costumes

  • Boys to wear trunks (not shorts- air gets trapped making it difficult for them to swim)

  • Jewellery to be removed prior to lessons

  • No consuming of main meals one hour prior to lessons – a small light snack up to 30 mins beforehand is acceptable

  • Swim caps are preferred – especially long hair

  • It is preferred that goggles are not worn in Levels 1 & 2

  • Parents are responsible for children in the changing rooms & corridors
  • All staff are responsible for children on poolside.

Poolside rules are re-iterated to pupils at the begining of each term.
